Committees
The Association of Lodging Professionals has several active committees that play an integral role in the success of ALP. Thank you to all who serve on these committees. If you would like to become a volunteer please complete the volunteer application.
Advocacy Committee
Keith Hammons, Chair
The committee assists the CEO and the Board in setting policy and ALP’s response to issues that impact the independent lodging industry. These may be legislative issues, policies or procedures of other organizations that significantly affect our industry, or marketing/advertising related to public perception of our industry. The Committee assists the CEO and Board in assessing priorities, developing white papers for members and our state and local associations to use, or identifying critical and time-sensitive issues requiring an immediate response. The Committee develops strategies and partnerships related to our advocacy efforts that will benefit all members and promote ALP's commitment to legislative and advocacy leadership for the innkeeping industry.
Allied Partner Advisory Council

This committee represents the interests of Allied Partners within ALP. The Advisory Council develops strategies and partnerships for the benefit of all members and to promote ALP's commitment to progressive business practices. In addition, they provide advice and guidance on improving the relationships between ALP and key national organizations.
Association Leaders Advisory Council

This Advisory Council represents the interests of our State/Regional and Local Association Leaders. The Advisory Council works to create and foster critical relationships for the benefit of our industry.
Audit Committee
Mitch Pies, Chair
The Audit Committee is accountable for an annual financial review or audit function. This committee determines the scope of the annual audit or financial review activity. Upon receipt and acceptance of the report, if any, from the reviewer or auditor, the Audit Committee presents the report to the Board of Directors. The Audit Committee is responsible for confirming to the Board that the Organization’s Annual IRS Form 990 is timely prepared and filed with the IRS within the filing dates set by the IRS.
B&Bs for Vets Ad Hoc Committee

This Committee manages the B&Bs for Vets program to honor and thank veterans for their service through B&B stays generously offered by B&Bs and Inns. The committee is responsible for outreach, messaging, connecting with previous participants, managing the database, and composing and distributing press releases, in conjunction with ALP staff.
Conference Committee

The Committee assists in creating the ALP’s Conference and Marketplace. The committee provides oversight on all components of the conference as well as assuring that educational topics are diverse, relevant, and current.
Education Committee
Rachel Boggan Paley, Chair
This Committee works to develop and deliver educational initiatives for ALP. It is the committee’s responsibility to create a body of education opportunities that stimulate, excite, and improve a property’s performance. The committee focuses on the ALP Conference & Marketplace education as well as a year-round multi-channel education program.
Executive Committee
Peter MacLaren, Chair
The officers serve the Board of Directors as voting members of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall have all the powers and authority of the Board of Directors in the intervals between meetings of the Board of Directors and is subject to the direction and control of the full Board of Directors. The primary purpose of the Executive Committee is to act as a sounding board to the CEO, and to plan the agendas for meetings of the Board of Directors.
Finance Committee
Dan Clark, Chair
The Committee is chaired by the Treasurer. It is responsible for reviewing fiscal policy and procedures, reviewing annual budgets prior to approval by the Board of Directors, monitoring the financial condition of the Organization, and reporting its findings to the Board of Directors.
Leadership Development Committee
Donna Olney Kohler, Chair
The Committee is tasked with identifying volunteer leaders in the industry to fill key volunteer roles as well as call for board nominations. The Committee is responsible for reviewing the qualifications of candidates and presenting recommendation(s) to the ALP Board.
Membership Committee

This Committee is charged with developing strategies for the retention and recruitment of members across all membership categories. Additionally, this committee will identify new parallel businesses or partners that fall within the lodging industry and would be critical partners for ALP.
